US State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel asserted that Washington rejects the conclusions of the Human Rights Watch report on the Israeli occupation state committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Patel’s remarks were made during a press conference held on Thursday, where he addressed developments in the Middle East.

Regarding the Human Rights Watch report accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, Patel shared: “We disagree with the conclusions in this particular report.”

Patel, whose country supplies the Israeli occupation with weapons and prevents the issuance of a ceasefire resolution in the United Nations Security Council, added: “We continue to see that the allegations of genocide are baseless, as was the case in the past. We disagree with the conclusions, and we have not concurred with past findings regarding genocide, and we do not now, and we do not believe that term applies here.”

The Israeli occupation army, supported by the US and Europe, has continued its aggression on the Gaza Strip since 7 October, 2023. Its aircraft bomb hospitals, buildings, towers and homes of Palestinian civilians, destroying them over their heads. The occupation also prevents the entry of water, food, medicine and fuel.

The aggression has left more than 152,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them women and children, with more than 10,000 believed to be missing.
