The Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration has categorically denied Israeli media reports claiming President Recep Tayyip Erdogan contacted authorities in Tel Aviv to coordinate actions in Syria.
A statement said: “Relations between Turkiye and Israel are completely severed, and Ankara has not taken any steps to improve them.” It added that the reports are “unfounded”.
“Our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan cannot have contact with Israeli officials. Israeli media outlets have recently reported that Turkish security officials contacted their counterparts in the Israeli army and security forces. However, according to the statement ‘Some Turkish media outlets picked up on this, reporting that ‘Erdogan called Israel’.’ Thus, based on a baseless story, another fake news story emerged,” the Communications Department’s statement added.
The Turkish government reaffirmed its longstanding position on its relations with Israel, saying: “Our policy towards Israel remains unchanged, and no diplomatic ties are being maintained between the two countries. No steps have been taken to improve relations.”
The administration stressed that bilateral relations have been severed over Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
