Iraq’s Ministry of Oil yesterday confirmed that no contracts are in place with Syria for the supply of crude oil, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

In a statement received by the INA, the ministry said: “Some media outlets have circulated reports regarding the suspension of Iraqi crude oil exports to Syria.”

However, the State Oil Marketing Organisation (SOMO) affirms that there are no contracts with the Syrian side to supply them with crude oil, the statement explained. “Therefore, no crude oil exports to Syria have been suspended.”

The ministry called on media outlets and those interested in oil-related matters to verify the accuracy of information before publication and to obtain it from official sources.
