Lebanese authorities have agreed to extradite Abdul Rahman Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, the son of the late Muslim Brotherhood preacher Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Lebanese Caretaker Information Minister, Ziad Makari, announced the decision while reading the outcomes of a cabinet meeting. According to the Lebanese News Agency, the cabinet approved the deportation of Al-Qaradawi, currently in custody, to the UAE.
Al-Qaradawi recently made a brief visit to Damascus, where he participated in celebrations following the success of the Syrian revolution and extended congratulations to the Syrian people. During his stay, he shared a video from Syria in which he criticised Egypt and several Gulf countries.
Al-Qaradawi was detained after he entered Lebanon legally as a Turkish citizen because of a court order issued by Egypt in absentia because of an article that he published in 2012.
