The Israeli occupation army began on Wednesday dismantling some facilities and military points in the Netzarim Corridor in the central Gaza Strip, reopening the coastal road connecting the Nuseirat refugee camp in northern Gaza to its southern region for the first time in months, Quds Press reported.
Truck drivers working near the site told the agency coordination took place to transport trucks carrying goods and aid from the Beit Hanoun/Erez crossing in northern Gaza through the coastal road route to central and southern Gaza instead of the Salah Al-Din Road. This was the first time this has taken place.
According to the sources, the Israeli occupation army began replacing the concrete cubes placed on both sides of the coastal road with mobile cabins that are easier to move.
The Netzarim military corridor was the first military site established by the Israeli occupation army in Gaza after 27 October 2023, when Israel launched its ground invasion of the enclave. It was used to divide the Strip in two; north and south Gaza.
The site has an area of about fifty-six square kilometers, which is equivalent to 15 per cent of Gaza’s total area and extends for eight kilometres.
