Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, yesterday confirmed that his country will continue its efforts to ensure the prevalence of stability in Sudan, Anadolu reported.

Abdelatty’s statement was made during his meeting with the President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council (TSC), Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, in the eastern Sudanese city of Port Sudan, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Abdelatty emphasised that Egypt would persist in its diligent efforts to bring stability to Sudan. He also highlighted Egypt’s initiatives to help resume its activities within the African Union.

In a separate meeting, Abdelatty discussed “all aspects of bilateral relations” between the two countries with his Sudanese counterpart, Ali Yusuf, according to a statement from the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The officials also addressed “regional and international issues of mutual interest,” where their views aligned, agreeing to continue coordination and mutual support in regional and international forums.

They also agreed to “activate all mechanisms of bilateral cooperation,” including holding a political consultation committee between the two countries’ foreign ministries in February. They also decided to hold the second session of the Sudanese-Egyptian Economic Forum in Sudan in April. The first session took place in November in Cairo.

Abdelatty was in Sudan on a one-day visit.
