A government source in the State of Kuwait revealed cooperation between the country’s authorities and other states to uncover the identities of dual nationals, while the High Committee for Kuwaiti Nationality approved revoking the nationalities of 5,838 people.
Al-Qabas newspaper quoted a government source saying on Thursday that some countries gave Kuwait important information, which contributed to uncovering many cases of duality, forgery and fraud.
The source noted the continuation of coordination through the country’s embassies abroad, and the embassies of other countries in Kuwait, in addition to security and information cooperation.
In a related context, the High Committee for Kuwaiti Nationality approved on Thursday the withdrawal and loss of nationality of 5,838 people, in preparation for presenting them to the Council of Ministers. They include four cases of duality, as dual nationality is not recognised in Kuwait.
The total number of people who lost citizenship in Kuwait rose to 35,548, between 29 August 2024 and 16 January 2025, according to data issued by the Ministry of Interior.
