Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the recent scenes of prisoner and detainee exchanges between Israel and Hamas demonstrate who values life and human dignity.

In a speech delivered yesterday at the presidential complex in Ankara, Erdogan remarked that Palestinians in Gaza have paid a heavy price but have not succumbed to Israel’s policies of oppression and massacres.

Regarding Turkish aid to Gaza, Erdogan said: “We have delivered 100,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Gaza so far, and we will increase this amount before the holy month of Ramadan.”

In a separate context, Erdogan highlighted that Syria’s recovery and the clearing of the destruction caused by the Assad regime would benefit not only Syrians but the entire region.

The Turkish president called on the Arab and Islamic world to support Syria in its recovery and emphasised the urgency of lifting Western sanctions on the country as soon as possible.
