In violation of the Gaza ceasefire deal, the Israeli occupation army yesterday killed a Palestinian man and wounded several others in the southern city of Rafah.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in the enclave said one Palestinian had died of wounds he sustained as a result of Israeli fire and 53 were injured, a further 19 people were injured over the past 24 hours; bringing the death toll from the Israeli war on Gaza to 47,161 and 111,166 wounded since 7 October 2023.
As thousands of Palestinians returned to their homes in northern Gaza, the extent of the destruction caused by the Israeli military operation began to emerge.
An official in the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Naji Sarhan, said it is estimated that 80 per cent of the northern Gaza Strip governorate has been destroyed.
There are currently more than 300,000 homeless Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip, he added, noting that more displaced families are expected to return from Gaza City and the central and southern Gaza Strip within the next week under the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
Despite the Israeli genocide and lack of capabilities, Sarhan said: “We are determined to rebuild northern Gaza to become better than it was, this is a collective responsibility that requires the world to stand with us.”
