Kuwait’s Defense Minister Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah started his visit to Egypt on Saturday to discuss military and security cooperation between the two countries, Anadolu Agency reports.

The official Kuwait News Agency KUNA said Sheikh Fahd arrived in Cairo for a two-day visit and is scheduled to meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday.

The Kuwaiti minister will also hold meetings with several Egyptian officials, including Defense Minister Abdel Majid Saqr and Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik.

According to Kuwait’s Ambassador Ghanem Al-Ghanem, quoted by KUNA, the visit “falls within the framework of the deep-rooted and historical fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries, which are distinguished at all levels.”

He praised the “strong relations between Kuwait and Egypt, as well as the close coordination and cooperation that characterize these ties,” reaffirming “the commitment to strengthening the historical bonds that unite the two nations.”

The ambassador said Sheikh Fahd’s visit to Egypt is part of a wider Middle East tour, which also includes Jordan and Oman.

In November 2024, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty visited Kuwait, where he met senior officials, including Sheikh Fahd and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. He affirmed “Egypt’s keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination with Kuwait and to accelerate its pace.”
