The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday unveiled a roadmap designed to “lay the groundwork for the post-war period and revive an inclusive political process, ultimately leading to free and fair general elections.”

In a statement released by the SUNA news agency, the ministry announced that the roadmap was “put forward by the nation’s leadership after extensive consultations with national and social groups.”

The roadmap includes the following launching a comprehensive national dialogue involving all political and social forces who distance themselves from the aggressors.

It added that it plans to form a government of independent national experts to resume transitional period duties and help the state overcome the consequences of war.

Amendments would be made to the constitutional document, securing approval from national and social forces, and a civilian prime minister would be appointed.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community, particularly the African Union (AU), the United Nations (UN) and the Arab League, to support the proposed roadmap, describing it as a “national consensus to establish peace and stability in the country and complete the transitional process.”
