Israeli occupation forces arrested 580 Palestinians in the West Bank in January, most of them from the city of Jenin and its refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank, Quds Press reported the Palestinian Authority’s Commission of Detainees’ Affairs saying.
In a statement released yesterday, the commission noted that among the detainees were 17 women and 60 children, adding that intensified field interrogations targeted hundreds of Palestinians.
The report also revealed that four detainees died or were declared dead in January. It further stated that by the time the ceasefire in Gaza took effect on 19 January, the total number of arrests in the West Bank had reached 14,500, including 455 women and 1,115 children.
