The United States Navy announced yesterday that the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman was involved in a collision off the northern coast of Egypt.
In a statement, US Naval Forces Europe-Africa said the incident occurred on Wednesday when the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier collided with a commercial vessel while sailing in the Mediterranean Sea near Port Said, in northeastern Egypt.
The navy confirmed that the accident did not pose any risk to the carrier, as no significant damage, water leaks, or crew injuries were reported.
It added that the carrier’s propulsion systems were unaffected and its condition remained safe and stable.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
There was no mention of the commercial vessel’s condition or whether its crew sustained any injuries.
