Hamas welcomes AU condemnation of Israel’s war on Gaza

Hamas yesterday welcomed the final statement issued during the African Union Summit, which strongly denounced Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, Quds Press reported.

Hamas lauded African countries’ “genuine positions”, describing them as “a natural extension of Africa’s history of struggle against colonialism and injustice as well as its commitment to the values of freedom, justice and self-determination”.

Hamas said the African position supports the Palestinian people’s steadfastness and resistance in the face of Israel’s crimes.

“It is a clear message to the international community on the necessity of shouldering its responsibilities in stopping the Zionist aggression and holding its criminal leaders accountable,” it added.

Hamas called “to prosecute the [Israeli] occupation internationally, and to stop all forms of cooperation and normalisation with it until it ends its occupation and aggression” against the Palestinians.
