Gaza’s clans have warned Israel against harming Sheikh Hosni al-Mughni, the general coordinator of the Higher Council for Tribal Affairs in the Gaza Strip, amid a “systematic Israeli incitement campaign” targeting him.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, the council said Israeli authorities had launched a “frenzied” campaign of incitement against Sheikh Hosni al-Mughni, also known as Abu Salman, across multiple platforms. The statement said the campaign included the dissemination of false accusations and public death threats, led by accounts and individuals linked to Israeli security agencies.

According to the statement, the so-called “Avichai Network” and other accounts associated with Israel initiated the incitement campaign in response to Sheikh al-Mughni’s national positions. The council said the campaign had escalated to explicit death threats issued by individuals it described as “agents”.

The Higher Council for Tribal Affairs stressed that targeting Sheikh al-Mughni should not be viewed as a personal matter, but rather as part of a broader campaign aimed at the national stance adopted by Palestinian clans. It said this stance includes rejecting “suspicious alliances” and attempts to legitimise collaborating groups during the ongoing aggression against Gaza.

The council added that Israel’s reliance on online incitement and direct threats reflects the failure of its efforts to create an alternative tribal structure or impose a so-called civil administration linked to the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip to serve its objectives.
