Sudan is moving forward with reconstruction and development, with no intention of turning back, in honour of the blood and sacrifices of the country’s “martyrs,” said Transitional Sovereignty Council member, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Gaber.

He made the remarks while opening a branch of Al-Salam Bank at the popular market in Omdurman. Gaber described the move as strategically important for supporting and improving banking services. He added that returning banks and financial institutions to historic market areas sends a strong message about the country’s recovery and its ability to manage the economy and meet citizens’ needs.

Gaber also revealed plans to establish a central, advanced monitoring and auditing unit for all Sudanese banks by April. The unit will strengthen oversight of financial operations, unify banking systems, and enhance transparency and efficiency in the banking sector.

He stressed that this step marks a major development in the digital transformation of Sudan’s banking sector, helping protect the financial system, ensure safe transactions, and support economic stability in the coming period.
