The foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is set to hold an emergency meeting on Sunday amid a US and Israeli attack on Iran and retaliatory strikes by Tehran, Anadolu reports.

The Qatari television Al Jazeera, citing an unnamed source, said the meeting will be held via video conference.

The GCC comprises Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.

Sunday’s meeting comes a day after the US and Israel launched an attack on Iran, killing several top officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes that hit several Gulf countries.

Israel and the US launched a similar attack on Iran last June, triggering a 12-day war before a ceasefire was announced.
