The group calling itself the Islamic Resistance in Iraq early on Thursday warned that the interests of European countries taking part in what it described as “US-Israeli aggression” against Iran would become legitimate targets.
In a statement, the group accused what it called “arrogant evil forces” of seeking to suppress the will of free nations and impose their dominance on the region. It said such efforts would fail in the face of what it described as firm resistance on the ground.
It added that the “criminal US-Zionist enemy” is still mobilising allies against Iran and the wider region, and seeking the support of some European countries to involve them in what it called an unjust war. The group said any state that joined the conflict would be regarded as an enemy, and that its forces and interests in Iraq and the region would be open to attack in response to its involvement.

Several areas of Iraq, including Erbil, have seen a rapid escalation, with military bases hosting US forces targeted by dozens of drones and rockets. The attacks have been claimed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iraqi armed factions.
The strikes are part of a broader campaign targeting the US military presence in Iraq, described by the groups as a response to US and Israeli aggression against Iran. Iraq is currently facing heightened security tensions, with a general state of alert and measures to evacuate diplomatic staff and US nationals from the country.
