Saudi Arabia has held talks with Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan on the escalation involving Iran and ways to achieve security and stability in the region.
According to a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry on Thursday, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a coordination meeting with his counterparts — Pakistan’s Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Turkey’s Hakan Fidan and Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty — on the sidelines of a consultative meeting of foreign ministers from a number of Arab and Islamic countries in the capital, Riyadh.
The ministry said the meeting included “discussions on the Iranian escalation in the region, and the importance of continuing consultations and coordinating joint efforts to achieve security and stability”.
Since 28 February, Israel and the United States have been carrying out a military campaign against Iran, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and security officials. Tehran has responded by launching missiles and drones towards Israel.
Iran has also targeted what it describes as “US interests” in several Arab countries, causing deaths, injuries and damage to civilian sites, actions that have been condemned by the affected states.
