A protest was held in front of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) building in the Gaza Strip to mark the 50th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day on Monday, Anadolu reports.

Organized by the National and Islamic Forces Monitoring Committee and the Prisoners Committee in Palestine, the demonstration protested Israel’s proposed “death penalty law” for Palestinian prisoners and the attempts to close Al-Aqsa Mosque.

A spokesperson read a statement during the protest emphasizing Israel’s recent acts are part of a new situation being imposed on the Palestinian people and called for widespread public support.

The Palestinian death toll in Gaza from Israel’s deadly war since October 2023 has reached 72,280 people, with 172,014 others wounded, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

According to the ministry, at least 704 people have been killed and 1,914 others injured by Israeli fire since a ceasefire deal took effect on Oct. 10, 2025.

The Israeli war has displaced almost the entire population of Gaza and caused widespread destruction affecting 90% of civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.
