Israeli media reports indicate that the war with Iran has caused extensive damage to infrastructure and a significant number of casualties across Israel.
According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, more than 5,000 buildings have been destroyed or damaged since the start of the war on February 28. The report also stated that dozens of civilians and soldiers have been killed, with hundreds injured, though the figures have not been independently verified.
The newspaper added that the Israeli economy has “paid a heavy price”, citing the impact of near-total lockdown measures during the conflict.
Separately, Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Iran has launched approximately 670 missiles and 765 drones toward Israeli-controlled areas since the beginning of the war.
The attacks have reportedly led to the evacuation of 6,305 Israelis from their homes, while more than 7,183 people have been injured, according to the same source.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced a two-week halt to strikes on Iran, conditional on the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the implementation of a bilateral ceasefire.
The announcement came shortly before the expiration of a deadline set by Washington for Tehran to reopen the strait and accept an agreement, amid heightened tensions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for the US position, stating that Israel backs efforts to ensure that Iran does not pose what he described as a nuclear, missile, or security threat to the region and beyond.
