Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a call Friday with US President Donald Trump to discuss regional tensions, including efforts to maintain a ceasefire with Iran, Anadolu reports.

Qatar’s Amiri Diwan said in a statement that the two leaders reviewed regional developments, particularly updates on a ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran, as well as international efforts to consolidate it.

They also exchanged views on the potential effect of regional tensions on maritime security and global supply chains.

During the call, Al Thani stressed the importance of de-escalation and the need to pursue peaceful solutions.

He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to working with regional and international partners to support mediation efforts led by Pakistan, it said.
