Israeli media outlets reported on Sunday that a number of Israeli soldiers were killed and wounded in an attack targeting a military force in southern Lebanon using an explosive-laden drone.

The reports described the incident as “difficult”, confirming that injured soldiers were evacuated to Ziv Medical Center and Rambam Health Care Campus for treatment.

For its part, the Lebanese Hezbollah group said it had targeted a group of Israeli soldiers in the southern town of Taybeh with an explosive-laden drone on Sunday morning, stating that the strike resulted in confirmed casualties.

The group added that it later targeted an Israeli evacuation force in the same area with another drone, reporting a direct hit.

The developments come amid continued exchanges of fire in southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah saying its operations are in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire and attacks on Lebanese villages that have caused civilian casualties.
