Houthis claim drone attack on Saudi Aramco refinery in Jizan

Yemen’s Houthi group announced on Thursday that it targeted an Aramco oil refinery in the Jizan region of southwestern Saudi Arabia using two explosive-laden drones.

The Houthi-run Saba news agency cited a military source as saying that the operation was carried out in retaliation for what the group termed ongoing Saudi “violations” of Yemeni airspace in the Sa’ada and Hajjah governorates.

The military source claimed the drones successfully struck the oil facility, though no independent sources have yet verified the extent of the damage or any resulting casualties.

This announcement follows a previous Houthi claim on August 9 that the group carried out a drone attack targeting an Aramco facility in Jizan. At the time, Saudi authorities reported extinguishing a fire that had broken out at a refinery installation, confirming that no injuries were sustained.

Energy markets continue to monitor the escalating situation closely amid growing concerns that renewed attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure could disrupt regional energy supplies and trade flows.
