Hamas accuses Israel of escalating Gaza attacks and violating ceasefire

Hamas on Monday accused Israel of intensifying military operations across the Gaza Strip, saying the latest attacks amounted to a continuing military campaign rather than isolated incidents and constituted violations of the ceasefire agreement.

In a statement, Hamas cited the demolition of homes in southern Gaza, reported Israeli fire toward fishermen off the coast of Gaza City and attacks on civilians in several areas of the enclave.

The group said at least five Palestinians were killed and several others wounded in Monday’s attacks. Palestinian reports said five people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in western Gaza City.

Hamas described the latest Israeli actions as a “systematic policy of aggression” and accused the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of continuing the war in different forms despite the ceasefire.

The group called on mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to intervene and pressure Israel to halt its military operations and comply with the terms of the agreement.

Hamas also called for international and UN action over Israeli military operations in Gaza, accusing Israeli forces of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
