Palestinian commission records 2,030 Israeli army and settler attacks in West Bank in August

Israeli forces and settlers carried out 2,030 attacks against Palestinians, their land and property in the occupied West Bank during August, according to figures released Tuesday by the Palestinian Authority’s Commission Against the Wall and Settlements.

The commission attributed 1,402 incidents to Israeli forces and 628 to settlers, describing the figures as evidence of continuing violence against Palestinians across the territory.

According to the commission, settler attacks directly affected 164 Palestinians during the month, including 20 children and 17 women.

It also reported that 17-year-old Karim Sand Shalalda was shot and killed during a settler attack in the Hamroush area of Sa’ir, in the southern Hebron governorate, on 21st August. The commission said his death brought the number of Palestinians killed by settler gunfire since the beginning of 2026 to 25.

Agricultural property was also extensively affected, according to the commission, which recorded damage to 21,508 trees, including 19,375 olive trees.

The commission said settlers attempted to establish 32 new outposts during August, with most of the activity concentrated in the Ramallah and al-Bireh, Hebron and Nablus governorates.

Israeli authorities also targeted approximately 1,946 dunams of Palestinian land through seizure orders, declarations of state land and orders issued on security grounds, according to the commission. One dunam is equivalent to 1,000 square meters.

The commission further reported 71 demolition operations affecting 155 structures during August. These included 47 inhabited homes, eight uninhabited homes, 33 structures used for livelihoods, 61 agricultural structures and six other buildings.
