The spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition for Yemen said Thursday six ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi rebels were intercepted and destroyed, thwarting an attempt to target the Saudi cities of Taif and Yanbu, Anadolu reports.
Air defenses “intercepted and destroyed six ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi terrorist militia,” Turki al-Maliki said in a statement.
He added that the air defense interceptions thwarted an attempt to target Taif and Yanbu in western Saudi Arabia.
“The escalation and violations of the Houthi terrorist militia will be dealt with firmly,” he warned.
Maliki did not immediately provide details on whether the interceptions caused any damage.
