Turkey’s stance in support of what is right and just will not change despite threats, provocations and smear campaigns by the Israeli government, Burhanettin Duran, head of Turkey’s Presidential Communications Directorate, said.

Duran made the remarks in a post on Turkish social media platform NSosyal on Sunday, responding to comments by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkey.

Duran said Katz’s “insolent remarks” reflected his government’s political desperation ahead of Israel’s upcoming elections in late October.

He stressed that “false accusations” against Turkey would not conceal the Israeli government’s record in what he described as its genocidal war on Gaza, or its continued aggressive policies in the region.

“Katz’s explicit death threat against figures involved in ceasefire and peace negotiations is another manifestation of the Israeli mindset that disregards international law,” Duran said.

“This irresponsible approach shows open contempt for international public opinion. Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey will continue to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, justice and lasting peace,” he added.

Duran reiterated that threats, provocations and smear campaigns by the Israeli government would not change Turkey’s stance in favour of what is right and just.
