Daesh has claimed responsibility for an attack where 14 people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle packed with explosives at an entrance into the capital, Baghdad, officials reported today.
The explosives were donated at a checkpoint at the main southern entrance to the city yesterday night injuring 36.

Daesh released a statement claiming responsibility for the attack, confirming it was carried out by a suicide bomber driving a truck “carrying several tonnes of explosive material”.
The extremist group gained large areas north and west of Baghdad in 2014, but Iraqi forces has successfully recaptures areas which were under its control. Iraqi security forces are now fighting to rid the northern city of Mosul from Daesh’s grips.
