Hamas seeks to improve relations with Cairo

Hamas said that it is interested in having “positive” relations with Egypt and ready to overcome all the obstacles to this end.

In an exclusive statement to Quds Press, Hamas leader Mushir Al-Masri said yesterday: “Hamas has always been neutral about Egyptian affairs, and it keeps the same distance from the various Egyptian sides on the grounds that the matter is an internal concern.”

“We are interested in fraternal relations with Egypt based on mutual interests,” Al-Masri added.

He pointed out that the movement has strongly condemned the burning of pictures of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi during a protest against the continuation of the blockade imposed on Gaza.

Al-Masri called on Cairo to “assume its religious, legal and humanitarian responsibilities towards the siege that the Gaza Strip has experienced for ten years.”
