The family of retired Jordanian Major General Ibrahim Al-Sarayreh refused to receive the US ambassador to Jordan, James Holtsnider, who came to offer condolences following his death. The incident took place at the Karak Sons Diwan in the Dabouq area of the capital, Amman.

Last week, a similar incident sparked wide public reaction in Jordan, after the sons of the late former mayor of Karak, Abdullah Al-Dmour, asked the US ambassador to leave their father’s mourning house.

Eyewitnesses said that Ambassador James Holtsnider arrived at the Karak Sons Diwan to offer condolences over the death of Al-Dmour. However, the family made their position clear, refused to receive him, and asked him to leave the mourning gathering. He left calmly, without any recorded tension or confrontation, in the presence of a large number of local dignitaries and residents.

The incident was widely praised among the Jordanian public. Citizens and activists on social media expressed support for the family’s stance, saying it clearly reflected public opposition to US policies in the region. They also said it showed growing public anger towards Washington’s policies, especially in light of its continued support for the Israeli occupation.
