Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, said on Sunday that it has provided mediators with all information available regarding the location of the body of an Israeli soldier believed to be the last remaining prisoner of war in the Gaza Strip.
In statements posted on Telegram, Al-Qassam said Israeli forces are now conducting searches based on the details it supplied. Abu Ubaida, the group’s spokesperson, said the movement had relayed “all the details and information” it possesses concerning the body of soldier Ran Gweli, adding that Israeli activity in the area confirmed the accuracy of the information.
“We confirm that we have provided the mediators with all the details and information we have about the location of the prisoner’s body,” Abu Ubaida said. “What confirms the veracity of our statement is that the enemy is currently searching in a location based on the information provided by the Qassam Brigades to the mediators.”

The spokesman said the group had handled the issue of prisoners and bodies “with complete transparency,” and claimed it had fulfilled its obligations under the ceasefire agreement by handing over all captives, living and dead, “as quickly as possible.”
He accused Israel of failing to comply with parts of the prisoner exchange and ceasefire arrangements in Gaza, while stressing that the group remains committed to concluding the file.
Israeli authorities did not immediately comment on the statement.
