Israeli army forces entered Syria’s southwestern Quneitra countryside on Monday and blocked construction work in the area, according to state-run Alikhbariah TV.

The broadcaster said six Israeli military vehicles advanced south of the town of Al-Rafid in Quneitra province.

Israeli forces also prevented local residents from digging foundations for construction in the area, it added.

In a separate incident, Alikhbariah reported that Israeli forces blew up an abandoned military barracks at Tal Harboun near the town of Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside.

Israel has expanded its military operations in Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on Dec. 8, 2024, with forces advancing into the demilitarized buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights and nearby positions.

Syria has demanded that Israel withdraw from territories it occupied and reaffirmed its commitment to a 1974 disengagement agreement. Israel says its actions are driven by security considerations.
