Emergency national demonstration

June 4, 2010 at 11:13 am

An emergency national demonstration is being called for to take place outside Downing Street at 1.30 pm this Saturday. This is in response to the horrific Israeli attack on the humanitarian boat convoy to Gaza, the Freedom Flotilla, in which hundreds of peaceful international humanitarians, who were simply taking much needed aid to the imprisoned people of Gaza, were brutally shot at, assaulted, kidnapped and in many cases murdered by Israeli commandos who stormed their ships while they were in international waters.

This illegal and immoral act of Israeli piracy and murder is just the most recent atrocity to be committed by the Israeli government in a series of daily horrors that they perpetrate against the Palestinian people including the inhumane siege on Gaza.

The march will begin at Downing Street at 1.30pm and will then proceed to the Israeli embassy in Kensington where there will be a rally. There will be several speakers delivering speeches, including some of the victims and survivors of the Flotilla massacre. The march is being called for by the PSC, CND, Stop the War, British Muslim Initiative, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Palestinian Forum of Britain and Viva Palestina.

The aim is to tell our government that it is time to put an end to Israeli war crimes and it is time that Israel was held to account for its actions.
