Jewish settlers carried out 165 "price tag" attacks against Palestinians in a year

The Israel police service has revealed that the Jewish settlers’ “Price Tag” group carried out 165 attacks against Palestinian properties inside Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories in a year.

The statistics were disclosed during a discussion of the Knesset Internal Committee, attended by Members of the Knesset (MKs) and representatives of the Israeli police, the public prosecutor’s office, the head of anti-terrorism in the prime minister’s office and internal security officials. Mohamed Baraka MK from the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality had asked the Israeli parliament to hold a debate on the increasing number of settlers’ attacks against Palestinians.

Advocate Nidal Othman from Mossawa Centre, the Advocacy Centre for Palestinian Arab citizens in Israel, placed responsibility for the setters’ attacks on the Israeli judiciary and Public Prosecution Service. He said that they could eliminate such attacks if they launched serious investigations into them and filed indictments against religious and political instigators of violence against Palestinians.

The police representatives claimed that they had detained 67 suspects and indicted 31 for carrying out such attacks. They were asked by Othman and others why such statistics were not publicised in order to deter others.
