Dr Sadaqa bin Yahya, the political adviser to the King of Saudi Arabia and a member of the Saudi Shura Council, called on Egypt, in an interview with Al-Jazeera, to release deposed President Mohammed Morsi. The political science professor at the University of King Abdul Aziz, described the events of July 3 as an outspoken military coup, stressing that the errors of President Morsi and his office did not justify the coup.
Dr bin Yahya demanded that Egypt restore Morsi’s powers as well as releasing all politicians, in order to form a representative committee which would amend the disputed constitution. Adding, that with Morsi still imprisoned there could not be a peaceful solution that satisfies all parties and is in the best interest of Egypt and the Arab nations.
