House demolitions and destruction of crops gather pace in the Negev

February 16, 2014 at 3:03 pm

Israeli police stormed the village of Wadi Al-Na’im in the Negev on Tuesday morning to destroy Arab rain-fed crops. Residents in other areas are expecting similar destruction of crops and house demolitions.

Juma’a Al-Zabarika, a member of the National Democratic Alliance’s political office and the High Steering Committee for Arabs in the Negev, regarded the increase of these hostile policies in the Negev as a whole, and particularly in Wadi Al-Na’im, which as a population of 14,000, as an implementation of the Goldberg-Praver-Begin plan, which recommends the displacement of Wadi Al-Na’im and Al-Sir village residents.

Al-Zabarika affirmed that these arbitrary acts would not discourage the people of Wadi Al-Na’im or in any of the so-called “unrecognized villages” from continuing to preserve their land and homes as a historical and human right. The Arabs of Negev are bonded and united and their goal is to remain on their land. The destruction of crops and demolitions, as well as efforts to move schools will not contribute to the implementation of even an iota of the government’s destructive schemes.

Al-Zabarika called on residents to act and participate in the public campaigns to stop the implementation of the government’s plan.
