Jordan studies response to bombing of field hospital in Gaza

February 17, 2014 at 11:20 pm

The Jordanian government is “studying appropriate measures” to take after its Field Hospital in the Gaza Strip was hit by an Israeli missile on Tuesday. One of the rooms being used by the hospital was damaged in the attack.

The Media Minister and official spokesman for the Jordanian government, Sameeh Alma’ayta, pointed out that the hospital is a humanitarian contribution from the Hashemite Kingdom in support of the medical services provided to the Palestinians. He condemned the current Israeli aggression in Gaza: “This could lead the whole region into a cycle of violence and instability.”

The Commander of the Field Hospital, Khaldon Aleedi Alshemri, said that the medical teams at the facility are well and have high morale. The hospital was opened in the aftermath of Israel’s previous assault on Gaza, so-called Operation Cast Lead. All of the doctors are Jordanian citizens.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Naser Jouda was part of the Arab Ministerial delegation which visited Gaza on Tuesday, headed by the Secretary General of the Arab League.
