The Abu Jihad Centre and Al Quds University organized a seminar in Ramallah on Thursday, 9 February, in solidarity with the Palestinian parliamentarians and ministers abducted by the Israeli occupation.

Participants discussed ways of supporting the detainees and how to internationalise their issue. Ahmad At Toun, the exiled MP from Jerusalem, called on Palestinian factions and the Palestinian Authority to place the issue of the prisoners and abducted parliamentarians at the top of their agenda. He especially urged Palestinian diplomatic missions to highlight their issue in the international arena.

There are currently 27 Palestinian parliamentarians in Israel jails; two from Fatah, one from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and 24 from the Change and Reform bloc. Additionally, there are three former ministers in detention including Khalid Abu Arafah, the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs. He was abducted by the occupation forces from the Red Cross compound in Jerusalem.
