February 17, 2014 at 11:15 pm

UNRWA has held the premiere of “Someone like me”, a documentary film produced as part of the agency’s Dignity for All project. The screening took place in Beirut and was attended by representatives of the European Union delegation in Lebanon, the Palestinian Embassy and the Lebanese Government’s Palestinian Dialogue Committee. The Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Salvatore Lombardo also attended and took part in a discussion about the film after the screening.

The film tells the story of a young Palestinian refugee who introduces his Lebanese university friend to his refugee camp home. It explores the issues behind the inequality faced by Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, even those who have been born in the country, shedding light on their aspirations and the challenges they face.

“Someone like me” was funded by the EU with the intention of improving the mutual perceptions of Lebanese citizens and the Palestinian refugee community.
