A report by Israel’s Peace Now movement revealed that since the settlement construction freeze expired – more than two and a half months ago – the authorities have laid the foundations for 1,260 settlement units in the Occupied Territories.

The report, released on Sunday, 14th November, mentioned that settlement construction in seized lands can be accelerated to reach up to 1,600 settlement units per year. It demanded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu impose another freeze.

In another context, Netanyahu briefed a cabinet meeting on his talks in Washington and discussed the possibility of returning to the negotiations.

Already there is strong resistance to calls for another freeze, with Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman declaring that no settlement freeze would be imposed – neither for one, or two months.
