Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled plans for a security barrier running along the borders of Egypt and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories  by the beginning of next month, November.

He stressed emphasized the importance of intensive monitoring to prevent the “illegal infiltration” across the southern border of the country, which “constitutes a threat to the Jewish and democratic character of Israel.”

In the same vein, Eyal Ghabay, the director-general of Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office accused the country’s Ministry of Defence of “hindering” the barrier’s building process and using the funds allocated to this project for paying the military industries’ wages.
