Whoever helps with the Israeli excavations under Jerusalem "is a traitor to his country"

The President of the Supreme Judicial Council in Palestine has issued a legal verdict (a fatwa) condemning the excavations carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities under the city of Jerusalem. Tayseer Al-Tamimi said, “The objective behind these tunnels is the ‘Judaisation’ of the Old City and the demolition of its historical sites, in order to obliterate its Arab and Islamic features and eradicate its Palestinian identity.”

According to Mr. Al-Tamimi Palestinians should avoid any action that threatens the identity and structure of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which was visited by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is thus an integral part of the Islamic faith.

He added, “This legal ruling also applies to participation in the construction of synagogues in the city or near Al-Aqsa Mosque, the building of settlements and the purchase of any Israeli products.” This reference to a boycott of Israeli goods also noted that such products “are being made on Palestinian land that the Israeli occupation authorities have taken from their rightful owners before handing it to Zionist colonial-settlers who attack Palestinian people, their property and their livelihood.” Making any contribution towards this, said Mr. Al-Tamimi, supported the ongoing occupation of the land of Isra and Miraj (the miraculous night journey of the Prophet, peace be upon him). Any Palestinian supporting the occupation in this way “is a traitor to his people”.
