Stars in his eyes, as Al-Sisi shows off gift from Putin

Egypt’s Defence Minister Field Marshal Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi appeared wearing a black jacket with a red star during his visit to Russia earlier this week. The jacket was a gift from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Marshal; Egypt’s ambassador to Russia Mohammed Badri revealed.

Badri told the Cairo Today news programme on Thursday that the Putin met with Al-Sisi privately for ten minutes to show his respect. The Russian President is claimed to have told the Egyptian delegation that “Egypt is the centre of stability in the Middle East”.

The ambassador said the Egyptian ministers of defence and foreign affairs met with their Russian counterparts on Wednesday and discussed Al-Nahda Dam project.
