The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced that it has completed preparations to hold an emergency meeting of foreign ministers to discuss the situation in Yemen at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah on Tuesday.
A statement on Monday said the meeting, which comes at the request of the Yemeni government and the approval of a majority of OIC member states, will examine the situation in Yemen and ways to restore security and stability to the country.
It is expected that the meeting will be attended by a large number of OIC member states.
The emergency meeting comes on the eve of the UN- sponsored negotiations, which will take place in Geneva between the Yemeni parties, as fighting continues on the ground.
