A senior Hamas official said on Wednesday that Gaza’s borders with Egypt are “completely safe and well-controlled” and Hamas would never allow to anyone cross them, Quds Press has reported.
The official, who asked to remain anonymous, hoped that “stability and security” will prevail in Egypt and all the lands of the Arab world.
Meanwhile, the official criticised the recent video of ISIS members attacking Hamas and calling its members “apostates”, and pledged to fight them in Gaza. “It [the video] is an attempt to mix up the priorities of the Palestinian resistance,” he said.
“This speech is only delivered by an ignorant or irresponsible people,” he added. “This serves only the Israeli occupation, which is trying to beat the Palestinian resistance.”
He also reiterated that such threats do not affect the Palestinians, who continue to believe in their cause as well as their right to resist the occupation. “The Palestinians could beat the strongest army in the region,” he said, implying that they would be able to triumph over ISIS’s scattered factions.
The official called on the ISIS members who appeared in the video to “review their ideology and their positions and get rid of extremism,” which he claimed could “lead people to undesired ends”.
