Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday that Daesh actions bear no relation to Turkey’s religion, morality, conscience or culture.

Speaking at a conference at the National Security Institute in Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, Erdogan said that the security of both Turkey and that of the international community is under threat today due to the conflict in Syria.

He added that the Assad regime employs all kinds of dirty means in the conflict, including the use of chemical weapons and ballistic missiles as well as collaborating with terrorist organizations in the struggle against its people.

“Terrorist organization Daesh is a product of such a perception, such a project. This organization’s actions bear no relation to our religion, morality, conscience or culture,” Erdogan said.

Erdogan also stated that there must be close cooperation against xenophobia, discrimination and Islamphobia.

“Recently, discriminatory actions in Europe against Muslims make us too sad. Turkey, 5 million of whose citizens live in Europe, is the main country affected by such negative behaviour,” he added.
