Secretary General of the Palestinian Popular Front, Ahmed Saadat, has called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to end its negotiations with Israel and to support the Quds Intifada [Jerusalem Intifada].

On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Popular Front, Saadat said in a letter leaked from his prison cell that the current Palestinian intifada is “the only way out from the vicious circle of negotiations and the illusions of the US-sponsored settlement.”

He called for a “critical and courageous” review of the Palestinian political struggle in order to rebuild it based on new guidelines, noting the outcomes must include support for the current popular intifada.

He warned of “undermining the Quds Intifada or turning it into a tactical measure that leads to a return to hollow slogans for settlement and peace talks.”

In addition, Saadat called for the unity of Palestinian efforts and mobilising these to serve the goals of the Palestinian intifada, “which has been facing efforts to abhort it.”

Saadat emphasised that resistance is the strategic means to realise the Palestinian aspiration of freedom and independence.
