British MP: Israel has yet to prove Palestinian rock throwers killed Israeli children

January 14, 2016 at 10:17 am

British MP Naseem Naz Shah has stirred controversy after she said that Tel Aviv has provided no evidence that Israeli children have been killed or injured by Palestinian minors protesting in the West Bank, Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported yesterday.

Eitan Na’eh, chargé d’affaires at the Israeli embassy in London, wrote to Shah on Monday to express his “profound concern” about her claims, the newspaper said.

Naz Shah’s comments come a day after Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wällstrom called for an investigation to determine whether Israel has been conducting extrajudicial executions of Palestinians during the current intifada.

“It is vital that there are thorough, credible investigations into these deaths in order to clarify and bring about possible accountability,” Wällstrom told MPs on Tuesday

Last month, Wallström said that she condemned the stabbing attacks by Palestinians against Israelis, but stressed that the Israeli response was “disproportionate”.

“The response cannot be … so that there are extrajudicial executions, or that it becomes disproportionate so the numbers of dead on the other side is greater than the original death toll by several factors,” she said.

In response, Israel said Swedish officials and the foreign minister are not welcome in Israel.

A foreign ministry spokesman, Emmanuel Nahshon said yesterday that “given the incendiary and aggressive nature of Margot Wallström’s comments, we have made it clear that she is not welcome in Israel.”
