British group sets up clean water project in Gaza

Education Aid for Palestinians (EAP) in Britain today announced the opening of its first clean water project in a school in the Gaza Strip.

The project, the first in a series, aims to provide clean and safe water for pupils in refugee camps as a result of the severe shortages in clean water in the Strip.

According to the UN, 95 per cent of water in Gaza is too contaminated to drink.

EAP CEO Dr Moin Shubib said the project was completed in partnership with the Noor Al-Marefa Association and the Palestine Alghad School for Children with Special Needs in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza from which approximately 1,500 pupils have benefitted from this project.

The organisation hopes to implement 11 similar projects in refugee camps throughout Gaza, in addition to providing school uniforms and supplies for children who are in need.
